The cyber curriculum is broken down into four main areas: 1. Foundations (Computing and Networking Basics, Linux, Introduction to Automation ); 2. Many of our part-time students are working full time while taking the program. Keep in mind that there are 10 hours in class and 15-20 hours worth of homework per week in the part-time schedule.
All students must have their own laptop (or desktop for 100% online classes). We recommend having 16 GB RAM and ~50-100 GB storage. Netbooks, thin clients and tablets are not permitted. Students can use Mac or Windows.
Please note that the Apple M1 processor is only supported for the Coding bootcamp at this time.
For students pursuing the Cyber bootcamp, the Apple M1 processor is not supported.
Yes, the Louisiana State University Cyber Bootcamp is beginner-friendly. It’s specifically designed for professionals who have no previous experience in cybersecurity. While some background knowledge is helpful, the only expectation is that students have general computer literacy skills in basics like efficiently using the internet/cloud and Windows.
The bootcamp helps prepare students to take the Security+ and CySA+ exams. Students can expect to spend another -/+ 15 hours studying before taking either exam. The price of taking these exams is not included in tuition.
